Who Is Nullaeus in WoW Midnight Delves?

Nullaeus is the seasonal nemesis boss for Delves in Midnight Season 1. He is tied to the Torment’s Rise Delve, Delver’s Bounty routing, seasonal achievements, the Nulling Nullaeus quest, and the high-end Tier ?? solo challenge reward path.

The fight is built around a repeating structure: damage Nullaeus, handle add intermissions at health breakpoints, then continue the boss fight with additional mechanics active. The encounter becomes much more dangerous if you let adds live too long or if you enter the final phase without cooldowns.

Practical takeaway: Nullaeus is not just a damage check. The safest route is clean add control, smart movement around arena effects, correct Valeera setup, and cooldown planning for the 25% soft-enrage phase.

Where Is Nullaeus Located?

Nullaeus is found in Torment’s Rise. The entrance is in Voidstorm, between Nexus-Point Xenas and Obscurion Citadel.

How to Unlock and Start the Nullaeus Route

Nullaeus can be tied into two important Delves reward paths: his own Torment’s Rise boss route and the Beacon of Hope / Delver’s Bounty route used inside a Delve after reaching a checkpoint.

For the Beacon route, buy Beacon of Hope from Naleidea Rivergleam at Delver’s Headquarters in Silvermoon. The item costs 5,000 Undercoin.

Step What to do Why it matters
1. Buy Beacon of Hope Purchase it from Naleidea Rivergleam at Delver’s Headquarters. This is the summon item used for the Nullaeus nemesis route.
2. Enter a Delve Progress until you reach the Delve checkpoint. The summon route starts after the checkpoint.
3. Clear nearby danger Stabilize the checkpoint area before using the Beacon. Summoning into uncleared enemies can make the attempt messy.
4. Use Beacon of Hope Summon Nullaeus and fight him down to 50%. At 50%, the gold pile reward moment becomes available.
5. Use Delver’s Bounty before the final boss Loot the gold pile and use the Delver’s Bounty map before killing the final boss of the same Delve. This adds the Hidden Trove to the Treasure Room.

Setting Up Valeera for Nullaeus

Valeera setup matters because Nullaeus punishes poor add control, poor movement, and low survivability. You can adjust Valeera through Delve supplies, checkpoints, or the Delves interface, depending on where you are in the run.

Player Problem Valeera Setup Direction Why it helps
You die during intermissions Use a defensive / healing-focused setup. Gives more room for add waves, missed movement, and Shadow damage.
Adds live too long Use a damage-focused setup. Helps clean intermissions before Nullaeus resurfaces.
You are learning mechanics Choose the setup that stabilizes the fight first. A slower safe kill is better than repeated high-damage wipes.
You are pushing Tier ?? Plan around survival, clean interrupts, and burst windows. The fight is mechanically similar, but damage and health pressure are much higher.

Nullaeus Strategy

The core strategy is simple to understand but punishing if executed poorly: damage Nullaeus until each intermission, kill the adds before he returns, then continue while handling the new mechanic that joins the fight.

Fight Priority What to do Reason
Add waves Kill adds before Nullaeus resurfaces. Living adds stack pressure and make the next boss phase harder.
Movement Avoid arena denial effects like Null Zone and Gravity Well. Shadow damage and pull effects can quickly ruin the attempt.
Interrupts Save interrupts for the important casts in the 25% phase. Wasting the interrupt can leave you exposed to the more dangerous spell.
Cooldowns Keep strong cooldowns for the final phase when possible. Umbral Rage becomes a soft enrage at 25%.

Nullaeus Intermissions: 75%, 50%, and 25%

Nullaeus changes the fight at each major health breakpoint. The clean route is to recognize what each intermission adds and plan your cooldowns around the final phase.

75% Intermission

Mechanic What happens How to handle it
Razorshell Ravager Two Razorshell Ravagers spawn. Kill them quickly before Nullaeus resurfaces.
Spiny Leap Gap-closer damage from Razorshell Ravagers. Expect them to connect quickly; do not let both adds live too long.
Jagged Rip Bleed pressure from Razorshell Ravagers. Use mitigation or healing if both adds are active.
Null Zone Nullaeus covers a third of the arena with damaging void. Move out immediately and keep space for the next mechanic.

50% Intermission

Mechanic What happens How to handle it
Razorshell Ravager wave Seven Razorshell Ravagers spawn. They have low health, so burst them down quickly.
Poisonous Spit Ravagers leave stacking DoT pressure if they reach melee range. Do not let the add wave sit on you for long.
Gravity Well A gravity orb moves around the room, pulling you in if you get close and dealing heavy Shadow damage near the iris. Stay far away from the orb and play on the opposite side of the room while still respecting Null Zone.

25% Intermission

Mechanic What happens How to handle it
Enslaved Voidcaster One Enslaved Voidcaster spawns. Focus the add and manage your interrupt carefully.
Shadow Bolt A lower-priority Shadow cast. Do not waste your interrupt if you need it for the more dangerous cast.
Emptiness of the Void The dangerous cast to watch closely. Save your interrupt for this unless your setup has another safe answer.
Shadow Crash Heavy Shadow damage to the targeted area. Sidestep out of the impact zone.
Umbral Rage Nullaeus gains a stacking 10% damage increase. This is the soft enrage. Use remaining cooldowns and finish the boss before pressure becomes overwhelming.

Fight summary: the 75% phase teaches movement and add control, the 50% phase tests add burst and positioning, and the 25% phase is the real kill check because Umbral Rage starts stacking.

Tier ?? Changes

On Tier ?? difficulty, the fight keeps the same core mechanics, but Nullaeus and his adds deal significantly more damage and have much more health. That means the strategy does not change as much as the execution requirement does.

Tier ?? Pressure What changes What it means
Higher boss health Nullaeus takes longer to kill. You need stronger sustained damage and better cooldown planning.
Higher add health Intermission adds live longer. Poor add control can quickly snowball the attempt.
Higher damage taken Mechanic mistakes are punished harder. Movement, interrupts, and Valeera setup become more important.
Final phase pressure Umbral Rage stacks during the 25% phase. Save cooldowns and finish the boss before the soft enrage overwhelms you.

Nullaeus rewards are split between seasonal completion, Tier ?? challenges, solo difficulty achievements, cosmetics, title rewards, toy rewards, and the Arcanovoid Construct mount route.
