WoW Valeera Sanguinar Delve Companion Guide
Valeera Sanguinar is your Midnight Delve companion. She joins solo players and groups of up to 4 players, can be set as Damage Dealer, Healer, or Tank, and becomes more useful as you level her and equip better Delve Curios.
This Boostcarry guide explains how Valeera works, when to use each companion role, which abilities matter most, how Curios improve her performance, and how to adjust her setup for Bountiful Delves, higher tiers, weekly routes, and Nullaeus attempts.
Important: Valeera is not just background support. Her role, Curios, and utility can decide whether a higher-tier Delve feels smooth or turns into repeated deaths before the Treasure Room.

FAQ
Who Is Valeera Sanguinar in Midnight Delves?
Valeera Sanguinar is the main Delve companion for Midnight. She supports your run when you are playing alone or in a small group, and her setup can be adjusted around the problem you are facing: low damage, poor survival, dangerous pulls, or higher-tier pressure.
Valeera grows stronger as you clear more Delves. She also uses Delve Curios, which are special items looted from end-of-run chests and used to improve her combat capabilities. This makes her part of your Delves progression route, not just an NPC that follows you around.

Valeera Companion Roles Explained
Valeera can be configured as a Damage Dealer, Healer, or Tank. The best role depends on what your character lacks inside the Delve. Durable characters often prefer extra damage, while fragile characters or higher-tier attempts may need healing or tank support.
| Valeera Role | Best Use Case | What It Solves |
|---|---|---|
| Damage Dealer | You are surviving comfortably and want faster clears. | Low damage, slow trash pulls, long boss fights. |
| Healer | You are taking too much damage or learning higher tiers. | Low sustain, dangerous packs, recovery after mistakes. |
| Tank | You need Valeera to handle front-line pressure. | Enemy focus, damage intake, messy melee pulls. |
How to Change Valeera’s Role
You can change Valeera’s role when interacting with Explorers’ League Supplies at the beginning of each Delve, at checkpoints, or by opening the Delves tab with H. This means you are not locked into one role for every run.
| Where to Change Setup | How It Helps |
|---|---|
| Start of a Delve | Set the role before the first pull based on your build and target tier. |
| Checkpoint | Adjust after seeing how the Delve feels or before the final objective / boss. |
Delves tab with H |
Review or adjust companion setup through the Delves interface. |
Valeera Abilities for All Roles
Valeera has a baseline kit that works across all roles. These abilities give her stealth, damage, AoE, utility, and extra reward support.
| Ability | What It Does | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth | Valeera conceals herself in shadow. | Fits the rogue-style companion kit and helps her avoid immediate attention. |
| Rupture | Deals Physical damage over time. | Provides steady damage on priority targets. |
| Masterful Feint | Reduces damage taken from area-of-effect attacks. | Helps Valeera survive dangerous AoE patterns. |
| Fan of Knives | Deals Physical damage to nearby enemies. | Useful when Delve pulls have multiple enemies. |
| Blood Contract | Marks an enemy for death; killing it grants Paid in Blood. | Creates a priority-target reward moment during combat. |
| Tools of the Trade | Helps players find additional resources and treasures. | Adds utility value beyond pure combat. |
| Killing Spree | Valeera moves rapidly through shadows and slashes enemies. | Acts as one of her stronger damage tools. |
Valeera Damage Dealer Role
The Damage Dealer role is best when your character already survives well and you want Valeera to speed up the run. This is often the preferred setup for farming lower tiers, clearing familiar Delves, or pushing time efficiency.
| DPS Ability | Effect | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Unrelenting | Recharges Fan of Knives, Rupture, and Killing Spree faster. | Improves Valeera’s damage rhythm. |
| Dagger to the Throat | Interrupts enemy spellcasting and silences the target for 5 sec. | Useful against dangerous caster mobs. |
| Poison of the Forgotten Master | Increases damage over time while in combat, stacking up to 5 times. | Strong for sustained combat when you can avoid taking damage. |
| Cheap Shot | Stuns the target for 10 sec. | Gives crowd-control value during dangerous pulls. |
| Jagged Caltrops | Creates a poison cloud that damages enemies in the area. | Useful for grouped enemies and area control. |
| No Witnesses | Increases Haste and refreshes when enemies die. | Best when the Delve has enough kill targets to keep pressure rolling. |
| Assassinate | Executes wounded targets below the health threshold. | Helps finish trash enemies and low-health targets. |
| Uncrowned’s Bloody Ledger | Increases Valeera’s damage done, scaling with companion level. | Makes leveling Valeera more valuable over time. |
Valeera Healer Role
The Healer role is best when you are learning higher tiers, taking too much damage, or playing a character with limited self-sustain. Valeera still deals some damage, but the point of this setup is stabilizing the run.
| Healer Ability | Effect | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Vampiric Reaping | Damages an enemy, creates Reaped Orbs, and heals the lowest-health player. | Strong recovery tool during dangerous pulls. |
| Shadow Veil | Dispels harmful magical effects from an ally. | Useful when Delve mobs apply dangerous magic effects. |
| Soulthirst Venom | Increases Leech, Avoidance, and Speed for Valeera and allies. | Good general sustain and mobility support. |
| Cheap Shot | Stuns the target for 10 sec. | Reduces incoming pressure by stopping a dangerous enemy. |
| Pain Killer | Absorbs damage on an ally for 30 sec. | Helps survive burst damage windows. |
| Cloak of Darkness | Reduces damage taken by allies in the area and prevents loss of control effects. | Strong defensive tool for heavy damage moments. |
| Uncrowned’s Alchemical Codex | Increases Valeera’s healing done, scaling with companion level. | Improves her healer role as she gains companion levels. |
Valeera Tank Role
The Tank role is for players who want Valeera to take more of the front-line pressure. This is useful when your character is fragile, when melee packs are overwhelming, or when you need more control before a boss or final objective.
| Tank Ability | Effect | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Scar of Kathra’natir | Reduces attack damage against Valeera and converts part of the pressure into delayed damage. | Core tank durability tool. |
| Dagger to the Throat | Interrupts and silences enemy spellcasting. | Important when the threat is a caster rather than raw melee damage. |
| Blood-Stained Blades | Effective healing on Valeera empowers her blades and increases her damage for a short duration. | Gives her tank setup some damage payoff. |
| Uncrowned’s Playbook of Subterfuge | Increases Valeera’s maximum health and healing received, scaling with companion level. | Improves her tank stability over time. |
Delve Curios for Valeera
Curios are special items looted from chests at the end of Delve runs. They improve Valeera’s combat capabilities and have 4 ranks. You can improve a Curio by looting the same Curio at a higher rank from higher-tier Delves.
| Curio Type | What It Does | How to Think About It |
|---|---|---|
| Combat Curios | Improve direct combat performance through damage, shields, crowd control, or companion power. | Best when your goal is smoother or faster clears. |
| Utility Curios | Add special effects tied to Mislaid Curiosities, Tools of the Trade, movement, or party utility. | Best when your goal is safer routing, extra value, or situational utility. |
| Higher-rank Curios | Stronger versions of the same Curio looted at higher tiers. | One more reason to push higher Delve tiers instead of staying low forever. |
Notable Combat Curios
| Combat Curio | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Holy Bounding Hand Grenade | Adds extra Holy damage with a stun chance and bounce potential. |
| Mantle of Stars | Can shield a low-health party member and create a damage window against nearby enemies. |
| Nether Entropic Kris | Adds Void damage over time that can spread to nearby enemies. |
| Porcelain Blade Tip | Can weaken enemies and increase critical strike chance against them. |
| Sanctum’s Edict | Builds Sanctum’s Blessings through combat and kills, improving healing and damage. |
Notable Utility Curios
| Utility Curio | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Ebon Crown of Subjugation | Uses Mislaid Curiosities to build a Primary Stat bonus through Subjugated Burdens. |
| Mandate of Sacred Death | Interacts with Tools of the Trade and adds extra Holy damage chance. |
| Motionless Nulltide | Rewards standing still during combat with stacking Cosmic Momentum. |
Best Valeera Setup by Delve Goal
There is no single Valeera setup that is correct for every character and every Delve. The right choice depends on whether your run fails because of damage, healing, add pressure, or mechanics.
| Your Goal | Recommended Direction | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fast lower-tier farming | Damage Dealer role + damage Curios | You already survive, so speed is the main gain. |
| Learning a new Delve | Healer role first | Extra recovery gives you more room to learn objectives and pulls. |
| Fragile character / low sustain | Healer or Tank role | Choose Healer for recovery or Tank if enemy focus is the main issue. |
| Higher Bountiful Delves | Stable role first, then damage once safe | Failed runs waste more time than slightly slower successful clears. |
| Nullaeus attempts | Survival-focused setup unless damage is the wall | Nullaeus punishes poor add control, missed movement, and final-phase pressure. |
How to Improve Valeera Over Time
Valeera improves as you clear Delves and collect better Curios. Because Curios can be upgraded by looting higher-rank versions at higher tiers, character progression and Delve tier progression both matter for companion strength.
| Improvement Route | What to Do | Why It Helps |
|---|---|---|
| Clear more Delves | Keep running Delves to build companion experience. | Valeera grows stronger over time. |
| Loot Curios | Open end-of-run chests and collect Curio drops. | Curios add important combat and utility effects. |
| Push higher tiers | Progress into stronger Delve tiers when your character is ready. | Higher-tier runs can provide higher-rank Curios. |
| Adjust role by problem | Swap Damage Dealer, Healer, or Tank based on what is failing. | Fixes your actual run problem instead of using one static setup forever. |
